Labouré College of Healthcare is committed to protecting all information gathered and retained about students, employees and community visitors. College employees will protect all personal information gathered to ensure the personal privacy of the individuals who are identified by the collected information.
Procedure Guidelines
INFORMATION COLLECTION
Labouré College of Healthcare collects information both manually and automatically. These methods include, but are not limited to, academic applications, course registration forms, contracts and agreements, financial aid applications, mail correspondence received from individuals as well as other academic institutions and organizations, and payments by check, credit card, debit card, and bank debit.
College business is also conducted electronically, and information from these transactions is also captured. This may occur on College websites which offer access to online coursework, online registration, and e-mail. Additional information is recorded as a result of interactions with cooperating organizations such as credit card companies and online payment services.
In addition to information about individuals, the college’s logging systems may passively collect information that is automatically sent by a user’s web browser or internet service provider. This information typically includes the date and time, login name, and IP address. The College uses this type of information to develop statistics that help us understand how our visitors use our web site and how we can improve it.
INFORMATION PROTECTION
Labouré College of Healthcare uses reasonable methods consistent with industry best practices to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, to maintain data accuracy, and to ensure appropriate use of personal information. The College has established a Written Information Security Program to govern and classify the Personal Information it collects; this Program classifies the collected data as Confidential, Restricted or Public. The academic and financial information stored about each student is secured and managed in compliance with all state and federal laws, including but not limited to Standards For The Protection Of Personal Information Of Residents Of The Commonwealth [201 Code Mass. Regs. 17.00], the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA).
INFORMATION RETENTION AND USE
Personal and academic records are retained indefinitely. The College does not retain any financial information about individuals any longer than is necessary to comply with legal, tax, and auditing requirements, and the college does not store any bank or credit account information in its information systems.
The College may use any personal information for any legal educational purpose, including but not limited to institutional research and reporting. Information may be accessed by, or transferred to, third parties (such as
the college’s contracted partners who provide and host the college’s Student Information Management System). These partners are contractually bound to abide by our privacy policy.
The College may also use the collected personal information to investigate security breaches or cooperate with government authorities when required by laws such as the Solomon Act or Patriot Act.
Labouré College of Healthcare will never share or sell the personal information about any employee, student, or community visitor to any third party.
DIRECT MARKETING AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
Labouré College of Healthcare may use all information collected for direct marketing purposes related only to the College and its programs. As visitors browse Labouré College of Healthcare’s web site, small tracking files (commonly called “cookies”) may be stored in the visitor’s computer’s web browser so that we can understand their interests. These cookies do not collect or store personal information such as your name, e-mail address, postal address or telephone number.
